Smarter Mini Module: choosing a version for your lighting
A Smarter Mini Module is worth considering when planning smart control for a lighting circuit. This buying guide helps you prepare the right questions; it is not a wiring guide.
Understand the product family
The Smarter Mini Module page offers WiFi and Zigbee choices alongside channel and function options. Treat each combination as a distinct selection and confirm its specifications.
Count independently controlled circuits
List the room’s main lighting, accent lighting and other groups. Ask an installer which are separate circuits. Counting visible lamps does not tell you how many control channels you need.
Check the installation space
Have a qualified installer inspect the wall box, available space, wiring and load type. The word Mini or a product photograph cannot establish whether the device fits your actual installation.
List the features that matter
Write down requirements such as a daily schedule, familiar wall-switch operation or energy readings. Ask about the selected version explicitly. Do not transfer specifications between switching, dimming and curtain-control options.
Make daily use easy
After installation, check the usual controls with the installer and give channels descriptive names. Start with one schedule that you can identify and disable easily before adding more rules.
Build a room-by-room order list
Record each room’s circuits, selected version and installation position. Check the basket against that list. Follow the product link for current options and ask Smarter to help resolve unclear selections before ordering.
Common questions
Do I need one channel per lamp?
You need to identify independently controlled circuits rather than simply count lamps.
Are dimming and switching versions interchangeable?
Do not assume so. Match the exact version and supported load to the intended use.
Should I order every room at once?
For a new setup, confirm suitability and try a representative installation before repeating it.
